Emory & Henry University

The White Coat Ceremony, begun in 1993 by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, is a ritual in which healthcare students commit to providing high-quality, compassionate and collaborative care. The ceremony officially marks the entrance into the nursing major.

Emory & Henry College congratulates students awarded as part of the College's awards day.

Emory & Henry College and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference are pleased to announce that 132 E&H student-athletes from the College's 20 NCAA Division III sports have earned ODAC All-Academic Team honors for the 2019-20 academic year. Eligibility for the ODAC All-Academic Team is open to any student-athlete that competes in an E&H varsity sport, regardless of academic class. He or she must achieve at least a 3.25 grade point average for the year to be considered.

Emory & Henry College is pleased to announce that 44 E&H student-athletes from the Intermont Equestrian, cheer and dance teams earned the designation of Emory & Henry Scholar-Athlete for the 2019-20 academic year. Eligibility for the Emory & Henry Scholar-Athlete is open to student-athlete that competes in an E&H varsity sport, regardless of academic class. Student-athletes must achieve at least a 3.25 grade point average for the year to be considered.

The VaSID All-State teams are selected by sports information directors of member institutions of the Virginia Sports Information Directors across the Commonwealth of Virginia. VaSID, founded in 1983, selects Academic All-State teams across all sports in addition to All-State teams in two divisions (University and College) for 15 sports and five single-division teams. Each institution is given six spots on the team for deserving student-athletes. Team members must be at least a sophomore and carry a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average to receive the honor.

The Awards Day recipients honors students in their majors who have maintained a high GPA and produced outstanding work. Each academic department chose students based on their merit and dedication to their field of study. Each department gives out at least two awards: the Outstanding Senior Award and the Academic Excellence/Highest GPA Award. The Outstanding Senior Award is presented to students who showed their passion for their major through increased involvement in the department's activities and exemplary projects and research. The Academic Excellence/Highest GPA Award is given to seniors who maintained a high GPA in all of their department's required courses. Many departments gave out additional, pre-established awards that seniors earned by completing the specific requirements.
